Procurement as the guiding light

The 2025 Annual Australian Procurement study, Procurement as the guiding light, shows that when procurement is designed to guide, it helps the business achieve better results and manage risk.

When procurement is mature, it is proactive, forward looking, manages risk, and builds strong relationships inside and outside the organisation. This leads to better results, more innovation, and smoother sharing of knowledge.

This year’s study has found that there are three essential capabilities underpinning procurement maturity:

  • Leadership and strategy
  • Governance and assurance
  • Business and industry engagement

Procurement as the guiding light, answers the following questions:

  • What does a highly mature procurement function look like in each of these areas?
  • What are the five challenges that hold procurement back?
  • Where are the strengths and weaknesses?
  • Does budget size matter?
  • Does structure matter?
  • Who performs better – public or private sector?

Procurement as the guiding light, provides you with a free interactive procurement maturity checklist. Use this checklist to see where your procurement function stands and where you can focus next.

“Take the next step and shine a light on where you are today, and chart a course for where you want to be tomorrow.”
